BOISE -- On June 29, three generations of cherished memories and belongings were charred.
The devastation of the Table Rock Fire is still just as chilling for one Boise family whose home was destroyed in the fire's path.
The owner, Van Danielson, says he's relieved the man believed to have started the blaze was cited on Wednesday. But Danielson is unsure what his next steps will be.
It's been more than two months since the infamous Table Rock Fire devastated the Boise Foothills and the community. It's been more than two months since the Danielsons' family home was burned to a skeleton; time Danielson says he spent trying to digest what happened, hoping someone would be held accountable.
Now that time has come: Ada County Sheriff's Deputies cited 19-year-old Taylor Kemp for setting off illegal fireworks in the Boise Foothills near Table Rock, which they believe sparked the fire.
But Danielson says he is still deciding how to move forward. He told KTVB restitution is not out of the question, and he is planning on hiring an attorney to help him decide if he will seek money from Kemp.
We asked Danielson how he felt about Kemp telling us that he is innocent and that he was forced to admit something that he didn't do.
"I think the hardest part that I have was that if it is him that did light the fire, he lied. I have no room in my heart for a liar," Danielson said. "If he did lie, it will come out sooner or later. So far it looks like it's coming out."
Danielson didn't have insurance on the home but he estimates everything he lost was in excess of $200,000
Combine that with the restitution the City of Boise and the Bureau of Land Management are seeking and Kemp could owe close to $600,000.
However, Danielson says he won't ever really recover the value of those things they lost - both physical belongings and memories.
The family set up a burnout fund as soon as the fire happened, and says they've received quite a bit of support from the community, for which they are very thankful.
The public can still donate to the '"Danielsons Burnout Fund" at any area Key Bank.
