BOISE -- The Ada County Coroner's Office has identified a Boise man who was found dead outside his home Wednesday morning.
The body of 59-year-old Jefferey Elbert Day was discovered in the front yard of a house on Longmont Avenue at 9:25 a.m. Because his cause of death was not clear, officers from the Boise Police Department were called out to the house to investigate.
Boise Police Sgt. Justin Kendall said detectives did not find any signs of foul play. Day's cause and manner of death have not been released, pending toxicology tests.
Neighbors said the whirl of police activity was unusual for the quiet street. Mary Nagle said Day had lived at the home for decades, and seemed to be in good health the last time she saw him.
"He was just the greatest guy," she said. "He'd pull my car out of the snow all the time. He was just a very nice man."
The coroner says toxicology test results will likely take several weeks.
