GRESHAM, Ore. -- A train hit and killed a man about 4:00 a.m. Thursday, according to Gresham Police.
The train came to a stop near I-84 and NE 181st Avenue after it struck the pedestrian. The body was located by police near 170th and Sandy after a 45-minute search.
Police have not said determined why the person was on the tracks.
Railroad traffic along that stretch was stopped for about two and a half hours as the investigation continued. The train eventually left the scene at 6:30 a.m.
Drivers on I-84 turning to look at the scene created a commuter slowdown.
Union Pacific will be the lead on the investigation, police said.
