The parents of a Boise boy who lost a battle with cancer have finished their son's Eagle Scout project.
A monument in honor of Zach Madison was unveiled Friday at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex in Ada County.
Zach's parents say he loved sports of any kind, but especially Optimist Football.
They say after his death, they were flooded with support from the community to help make the project possible.
"The memorial is really important because it's something that allows us to remember Zach and things that he stood for," said Roger Madison, Zach's father. "He loved Optimist Football. He loved being on a team. He loved his coach. And this is a great way for us to give back."
The monument includes a map of the fields to help people get around, along with a picture of Zach and a story about his life and what he stood for.
