New information on the resignation of two top leaders at the West Valley Humane Society.
Today we received a letter from Canyon County commissioners to the animal shelter demanding a change in leadership in order to resolve financial concerns and ensure public funds and property are protected.
The letter says commissioners requested an independent audit last week and have yet to receive a response.
And they have information indicating the humane society is not properly safeguarding public funds.
The county has now been asked to step in on behalf of the humane society for expenses that have not been paid.
The letter says "this has significantly intensified our concern for the financial state of the humane society."
Last month Nampa's mayor said he wanted to work with the city of Caldwell to audit the West Valley Humane Society because of ongoing issues with financial record keeping, including missed payments.
