Fishing season for Coho salmon officially -- and, finally -- opened on Friday on Lake Washington and a stretch of the Duwamish River between the 1st Avenue South bridge and I-405.
The season opened later than usual because state and tribe officials agreed to open after 10,000 fish had been counted passing through the Ballard locks.
That didn't happen until this week, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
"We're excited," said Mike Carey, a longtime fisherman.
Anglers can keep only two coho each.
