Bothell Mall demolition postponed until Wednesday

KING 5's Alex Rozier reports.

BOTHELL, Wash. - The Bothell Mall will be demolished on Wednesday, nearly two months after a devastating fire in the heart of the city’s multimillion downtown redevelopment project.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the fire.

The demolition has proven to be a difficult task for contractors as the old Bothell Mall building contains asbestos. The contractor has been asked by the city to make a reasonable effort to salvage and clean the asbestos from any personal effects in the building.

The Bothell Mall stands at the corner of 102nd Avenue Northeast and Main and right now that section of 102nd Avenue Northeast is closed. If all goes well the city hopes to re-open the road as soon as Wednesday. They hope the debris and other material from the demolition will be gone by Friday.
