Arson suspected in three Beaverton fires; 2 arrested

Cars burned in series of suspicious fires

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Three fires damaging three cars, one home and one portable restroom in Beaverton appear to be arson, investigators say.

The fires were called in between 5 and 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested two young men near the scene of one of the fires, and said they had evidence linking them to one of the arsons. Detectives are working to figure out if they committed the crimes at all three locations.

One home on Southwest Timberland Drive had two cars burned and the flames damaged siding on the front of the house.

Another home undergoing a remodel on Southwest Hart Road had a porta-potty in the yard that burned and melted flat to the ground. A car parked in front of a home on Southwest Hart Way was burned up on the inside, and the window was covered in soot.

“I don’t understand why they did this thing but I appreciate the police efforts to quickly find them and arrest them,” said Sam Park, the owner of the gray Nissan that burned.
