1 dead, 4 hurt in deadly crash near Enumclaw

KING 5's John Langeler reports.

ENUMCLAW, Wash. -- State troopers believe drugs or alcohol were involved in a deadly crash in Pierce County.

Troopers say a passenger died after a car drove off State Route 410 and hit a tree near Enumclaw around 3:10 a.m. Sunday.

Troopers say it looks like five people had left a bonfire when the 18-year-old driver drifted onto the road's shoulder and overcorrected the vehicle. The car smashed into a tree.

The driver and three other passengers have been hospitalized.

The driver is being investigated for vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
