LIVE NOW -- Memorial for fallen Boise K-9 Jardo

BOISE - A memorial service has been scheduled for Jardo, the fallen Boise K-9 officer who was shot November 11 during the search for a fugitive.

Jardo was shot once in the chest during the search for 33-year-old Marco Romero.

The 6-year-old Belgian Malinois, was taken to WestVet Emergency and Specialty Center that afternoon. He underwent major surgery, and lost a lung during the operation. He also lost a lot of blood during the procedure.

Jardo was released to his handler the next day and appeared to be on the road to recovery when he was reunited with fellow officer Cpl. Chris Davis earlier this week. Davis was shot in the leg.

Boise Police Chief Bill Bones said Jardo took a turn for the worse and died Wednesday night.

The memorial for Jardo will be at 3 p.m Tuesday, November 22 at Taco Bell Arena, located at 1401 Bronco Lane in Boise.

You will be able to watch the service live on KTVB.COM, the KTVB app, and Idaho's Very Own 24/7.

The service will be open to the public and the doors will open at 1:30 p.m. The service is expected to last one hour.

Public parking will be available in the East Stadium lot and the Lincoln parking garage. The public is encouraged to enter through entrance 2.

Romero was shot and killed by police.

Romero was wanted in connection with a double shooting in Meridian that injured two people and the carjacking of an 89-year-old woman two days later.
