BOISE -- Idaho and Oregon transportation officials say no traffic deaths were reported in either state on Christmas, according to preliminary information.
In Oregon, the Department of Transportation says there were no deaths on the roads from 6 p.m. Christmas Eve until 12 a.m. Thursday. This is only the second time in more than 40 years that's happened.
In Idaho, the Transportation Department also reports zero deaths for Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day.
"I thank all the Idaho drivers that made good decisions out there," said Steve Grant, Idaho Transportation Department. "We're coming up on our New years Eve holiday, and that's one that we particularly want to remind drivers to continue to make good driving decisions."
Both state's transportation departments ask drivers to designate a sober driver during festive, holiday parties, and be careful in any winter weather driving situation.
