MERIDIAN -- A 28-year-old Kuna man is charged with felony burglary after deputies say he hid inside a barn after trying to steal scrap metal Saturday morning.

A search eventually turned up 28-year-old Michael A. Kinser, who was found hiding under a bench inside the barn near Ustick and Linder roads.

A wary neighbor called authorities after spotting the suspect park his pickup truck near the barn and go inside. The neighbor was aware of other recent burglaries in the area, according to reports.

Once called to the scene, Ada County Sheriff's deputies surrounded the barn and used a bullhorn to call for Kinser to come out.

They got no response.

So, with assistance from Meridian and Garden City police, deputies formed a perimeter and searched the barn, eventually discovering Kinser's hiding spot.

Deputies say the 28-year-old later confessed to breaking into the barn with the intent to steal scrap metal.

Kinser is now being held in the Ada County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear in court on January 6.

Deputies believe he may be connected to other thefts reported in the same area throughout the past month.
