No. 1 in the world, Novak Djokovic of Serbia beat no. 23 John Isner of the USA in the first match of the Davis Cup Quarterfinals in Boise on Friday.

BOISE -- The world's premier tennis event kicked off today in Boise.

The U.S. began its three-day series against Serbia in the 2013 Davis Cup BNP Paribas World Group Quarterfinal at the Taco Bell Arena.

Friday's first match saw world's top player Novak Djokovic from Serbia swinging a racquet against the world's no. 23 player John Isner from the USA.

The match began Friday just after 1:00 p.m.

Djokovic went on to win in straight sets. The final score was 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, 7-5.

A special welcoming ceremony included members of the Fruitland H.S. percussion group, and  the introduction of both teams.
