BOISE -- Two more charities that you helped out during our 2012 Community Cares Day have received some big checks from the event.
Back in December, Cares Day brought in more than $104,000 and 121,000 pounds of food.
On Friday, KTVB General Manager Doug Armstrong and Community Service Manager Sally Craven dropped off checks for the Idaho Foodbank and Boise Rescue Mission.
At a ceremony at the City Light Home for Women and Children, Rescue Mission Director Bill Roscoe received a check for more than $33,000.
“We had over 2,000 first-time homeless people stay in our shelters last year, the need is there, and this community is meeting that need,” said Roscoe.
On Thursday, Cares Day donations were given to local Salvation Army chapters, as well as Jubilee House in Twin Falls.
