BOISE -- Local police officers put down their badges and picked up a pingpong paddle to play with kids in our community, Monday night.
Over a 130 kids came out tonight to the Boise State University Student Union Building to shoot pool or bowl a few lanes Boise Police Officers.
Every year they partner up with Drug Free Idaho for their annual Bigs N' Blue event.
Officer Jermaine Galloway says it gives them an opportunity to be proactive and get to know the kids on a personal level and a chance to build a bond with them.
"Today, we get to reach out to our community and not deal with problems. We get to be proactive, we get to have fun, and we get to do some outreach with people we're going to see again... And what better for them to know we're human and already have a bond and a relationship prior to that," said Officer Galloway.
This is their fifth annual Holiday Party.
