BOISE -- A Hayden man will remain behind bars after the Idaho Court of Appeals rejected his bid to have his 2011 conviction for sexual abuse of a minor thrown out.

In April 2011, then-26-year-old Keven L. Ormesher was sentenced to at least two and up to six years in prison for sexual abuse of a child under 16 years of age.

He was convicted of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl he'd met at a wedding.

In his appeal, Ormesher's attorneys argued the jury was given improper instructions and that the 1st District Court judge erred by allowing the state to introduce evidence of his past convictions for stalking and no-contact order violation to dispute his "moral" character.

But in a unanimous decision, the appeals judges concluded that Ormesher's conviction was appropriate.
