WENDELL -- Two people were injured and two horses had to be put down after a crash Friday evening, Idaho State Police said.
The crash happened at about 6:40 p.m. on State Highway 46 just north of the town of Wendell.
Police say 57-year-old Carey Jenks, of Gooding, was driving a Ford Taurus north on the highway when he hit several horses that were in the roadway and on the shoulder of the road.
Jenks was taken by ambulance to North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding. His 15-year-old passenger was taken by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
Their conditions are not known at this time, although police say both were wearing seatbelts.
Two of the horses had to be put down at the scene; their owner has been notified.
Police say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
