AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho -- Police in American Falls say two pit bulls have been euthanized after attacking a 61-year-old woman over the weekend.
Marc Nichols says his former mother-in-law, Nancy Davis, heard the pit bulls attacking her dog Sunday morning. She rescued her dog, but was attacked as she left to ask her neighbor to get the dogs back in their yard.
Dale Davis says the pit bulls ripped off part of his ex-wife's scalp, ate part of her ear and took some chunks out of her arm. Neighbors who heard her scream fended off the dogs, which were later euthanized.
Nancy Davis underwent several hours of surgery.
The owner of the dogs was cited with two counts of owning a dog that attacked or bit a person and two counts of having a dog at large.
