BOISE -- Fire restrictions go into effect in south-central Idaho today for the time in seven years.
The restrictions include a ban on campfires and smoking on public lands stretching from Highway 20 to the Utah and Nevada borders.
No campfires or stove fires will be permitted outside of designated recreations sites.
The restrictions also ban people from smoking -- except inside enclosed vehicles, buildings or developed recreation sites -- or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that has been cleared of all flammable materials.
