EAGLE --- The winner of this year's St. Jude Dream Home went to Eagle Monday to see her new home.
Ann Zimmermaker is still a little shocked after winning the big prize in a drawing that aired on KTVB.
When she and her family saw the house in the Lakemoor subdivision there was a lot of "oohing and aahing" over how nice it is.
Zimmermaker first bought raffle tickets for the dream home drawing more than 16 years ago.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is dedicated to helping kids beat cancer and other deadly diseases. Thanks to donations, no child is ever turned away because of an inability to pay.
Zimmermaker saw what St. Jude's was doing and knew it was something she wanted to support. That became more clear when her friend's grandson started going to St. Jude's.
That grandson, Owen Church, just happened to draw Zimmermaker's winning ticket Sunday night.
"And to pick my name, it is like, 'oh wow Owen!' And that's your grandma, who looks kinda like we planned it or something. But it just happened. Your chance is as good as anybodies I guess. I just feel lucky," said Ann Zimmermaker.
Zimmermaker doesn't plan to move into the dream home. Right now, she lives down the street from her daughter, and while she says the house is beautiful, she wants to stay close to family.
Zimmermaker considers herself a lucky lady. She's won the lottery before and now a house!
Zimmermaker is already planning on buying a ticket for next year's St. Jude raffle and says she plans to support the hospital as long as she can.
