TWIN FALLS -- A 32-year-old Rupert man has been found competent to stand trial in his brother's shooting death.
The Times-News reports a 5th District Court judge reviewed a psychological evaluation on Damon Wayne Azure and determined he is fit and the case may continue. Azure was ordered transported to the Twin Falls County jail.
Azure was charged with first-degree murder in the Feb. 12 death of 31-year-old Seanachan Azure, who was shot in the head, mouth and torso near Twin Falls Park north of Kimberly.
On March 16, the court found Damon Azure was dangerously mentally ill and presented a substantial risk to other people. He was sent to the Idaho Security Medical Program for evaluation.
Prosecutor Grant Loebs says he expects the trial won't be held for several months.
