BOISE -- A young cougar gave the folks in Hidden Springs something to think about.
Colten Tippetts, the town manager, says someone jogging with their two dogs scared the cougar up a tree Sunday morning.
To keep things safe, neighborhood organizers closed the trails and called the sheriff's office, the state wildlife biologist and Idaho Fish and Game.
The experts decided the cougar was only about six months old and probably still with his mother.
After weighing their options, and not wanting to harm the animal, they decided to let the cougar stay and see if it would come down on its own.
And that is exactly what happened. Someone reported seeing the cougar cross Dry Creek Road on his way back to the foothills around 10:15 p.m. Sunday.
