BOISE -- Boise Police are searching for a rape suspect they consider to be armed and dangerous.

The alleged rape happened around 8 p.m Tuesday at the Rodeway Inn at 1115 North Curtis Road near St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Officers say a woman was held at knifepoint and raped by a man she knew.

The owner of the hotel said he and his wife were at the hotel last night when an extremely distraught woman came down to the lobby and told them what happened.   He said the cops arrived within minutes to investigate.

Police searched the hotel room, but the suspect was gone.

The rape suspect is described as a dark skinned man in his 30s.  He is 5-feet-4 inches tall and approximately 145 pounds. The suspect is a transient and known to have stayed at local shelters.

Police have called local shelters, but have not been able to locate the suspect.
