BOISE -- Winter weather could pose a danger to the University of Idaho students who will be making their way from Moscow to Boise for Saturday's big game.
Those who wait until after classes Thursday to hit the road could hit some harse weather conditions.
Snow is expected in several parts of the state and some of those areas include the highways that college students will be driving on to attend the BSU-Idaho game.
US 95 and US 55 are the two most traveled roads between Moscow and Boise.
With the snow expected to be on the ground in the valley by Friday night, it could be even worse in the mountains.
In recent years, there have been lots of accidents on those two major north-south routes.
The Idaho Transportation Department reports in 2008 on Highway 95 there were more than 1,100 accidents, and 19 of those were deadly.
That same year, on Highway 55, there were more than 600 accidents and 10 of those were fatal.
In 2007, there were more than 1,200 accidents and 15 fatalities on Highway 95. While on Highway 55, there were more than 700 accidents and four deaths.
Those numbers encompass the entire year, so we broke it down to the last time Vandal fans visited Boise. That was in 2007.
From Nov. 15 to Nov. 18, 2007, there were three crashes and one fatality. The victim was a 19-year-old.
For parents, like Susan Churchman, it's frightening. Her son is freshman at the U of I and he has promised to call mom throughout his trip.
"Scares me to death, we are putting snow tires on his car Saturday morning, we were hoping he would get down without snow but it sounds like the trip down he is going to have snow, he does have an all-wheel drive vehicle, so I feel a little bit better about that," said Churchman.
Many U of I college students from the Treasure Valley will likely be making this long trip again next week when they come home for the Thanksgiving break.
