BOISE – As part of the 4th of July celebration in Ann Morrison Park, chalk artists picked out their best colors to create sidewalk masterpieces Sunday.

People age 12 and up were invited to share their artistic talents in chalk for the first Chalk Art Festival.

Lindsay Deverall turned to nature for her inspiration.

“Our theme is summer in Idaho,” said chalk artist Lindsay Deverall of her creation. “My husband fly fishes and he's quite an avid fly fisherman and my partner in crime Heather fishes too."

Other artists drew faces, landscapes and eagles out of chalk.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the children's programs at the Boise Art Museum.
