IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Investigators in southeastern Idaho say a husband whose wife had recently started a relationship with another man shot and killed him and a short time later shot and killed himself after his vehicle was forced to stop by police.
Idaho Falls Police say Keith Matthias, 49, shot Jack Purcell, 46, multiple times in a Wal-Mart parking lot about 8 p.m. Friday.
Police say Keith and Jennifer Matthias then had a brief exchange of words before Keith approached Purcell again and fired one more shot at close range.
Police say a short time later and about a mile away they forced Keith Matthias' Mazda to a stop and that he got out with a handgun held to his side.
Police say they fired a Taser that had no effect and that Matthias raised the gun to his head and fired. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
