Pilot killed in Idaho helicopter crash near Donnelly identified

BOISE -- The Valley County Sheriff has released the name of a helicopter pilot killed near Donnelly Wednesday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Roy Daniel Kettle of Harvard, Idaho.

Kettle was airlifting a log in a 1994 Kaman K-1200 helicopter when it crashed shortly after 2 p.m. 

The Donnelly Fire and Ambulance, Valley County Sheriff and U.S. Forest Service all responded to the crash site near West Mountain Road and No Business Lookout, west of Donnelly.

The FAA is expected to arrive at the crash site today to investigate.  The cause of the crash is still unknown.
 
The helicopter is registered to Woody Contracting Inc. based out of Summerville, Oregon.
