COEUR D'ALENE -- A jailed North Idaho lawyer accused of hiring a hitman to kill his wife is asking to see her.

According to court documents, Edgar Steele's attorney requested a federal judge allow Steele "to have a one time supervised visit with Cyndi Steele to take place at the Spokane County Jail."

The documents cite the reason for the visit is to discuss "common property and interests as well as...financial issues related to their children."

Steele, 64, was arrested in June for the alleged plot. Federal prosecutors say they have audio-tape evidence of Steele discussing the plot to put a bomb under his wife's vehicle before she left for a trip to visit her mother in Oregon, and payment of $10,000.

A Sagle resident, Larry Fairfax, was arrested for allegedly making the bomb that was found under Cyndi's black SUV at a Coeur d'Alene Quick Lube.
