More information continues to emerge about the group of Americans who were arrested in Haiti.
NBC News is reporting that the group is now starting to turn on leader Laura Silsby.
In a jail cell interview, the group handed NBC News a note saying, "Laura want to control. We believe lying. We're afraid. We had nothing to do with any documents and have been lied to."
KTVB has learned that for the last several months, Silsby has been going to a second hand clothing store for children.
Val Batteen, the owner of Other Mothers in Boise, said that he first met Silsby about nine months ago at one of their sales.
At that point, Silsby told Batteen that she had already been on a trip to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Batteen said Silsby told him about her goal to set up an orphanage for Haitian kids.
He then helped her gather items to take down, things like diapers, clothes and small stuffed animals.
After the earthquake Other Mothers set up bins for donations for the orphanage and posted information about it on their Web site.
But hearing about Silsby and the other Americans arrested was not what he expected.
“We were very surprised,” Batteen said. “Shocked even. We heard it on the local news. So we were very shocked, and disappointed. We didn't know ... what can we do? And what have they gotten themselves into? Are they going to be released soon? All those questions."
At the Central Valley Baptist Church, which several members of the group attended, another statement is not expected until Sunday afternoon.
As for church services, those will go on as regularly scheduled. There will just be some added guidelines for media wanting to attend.
Batteen also met Charisa Coulter, the co-founder of New Life Children's Refuge with Silsby. Now that the Americans are arrested,
Batteen said he's suspended the drive to help the orphanage since its future is unknown.
