BOISE -- Firefighters are battling a grass fire burning in the foothills northeast of Boise.

The Bureau of Land Management says the Rock Fire has burned about 5 acres, and is about a half mile up from the mouth of Rocky Canyon. No structures are threatened.

Officials say the fire started around 9:30 a.m.  No word yet on what might have caused the fire which is burning in grass and brush.

Rocky Canyon road is closed at both ends to allow for firefighter traffic to move safely through the area.

Firefighters from the BLM and Boise City Unified Command are responding.

Resources on the Rock Fire include 7 engines, 3 dozers, two 20-person handcrews, 1 helicopter, 4 single-engine air tankers, and a lead plane.
