GOODING, Idaho -- A 25-year-old Gooding man charged with involuntary manslaughter in the shaking death of a 6-month-old baby has entered a plea agreement.
Jason W. Blunt entered the change of plea Tuesday, a day before his trial was scheduled to begin. The agreement calls for a three- to six-year prison term when 5th District Judge John Butler sentences him on June 22.
Blunt was charged with shaking his girlfriend's baby and hitting the infant on the back of the head.
The baby was taken to St. Luke's Boise Medical Center on Jan. 27 and died the next day of a brain hemorrhage.
Court records say Blunt told authorities he shook the baby for about five to 10 seconds.
