JEROME -- A former Twin Falls police detective has pleaded guilty to two felony prescription drug charges in an agreement with prosecutors.
The Times-News reports Curtis Gambrel, who was in law enforcement for 22 years before retiring in 2007, pleaded guilty Monday to obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and conspiracy to obtain a controlled substance by fraud. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop three additional charges as long as he successfully completes drug court.
A former nurse practitioner, Jan Sund, was sentenced to a six-month prison program in April after pleading guilty to four prescription drug charges. She told the court that she supplied a hydrocodone prescription to Gambrel, who filled it and split the pills with her.
