BOISE -- Officials are asking people to stay away from the Murtaugh area due to the Cave Canyon Fire.

As of Thursday afternoon, the fire has grown to just over 45,000 acres.

On Thursday morning, the fire made it's way six miles north before strong winds pushed it west to Medley Creek and north to Prospect, which is south of Murtaugh Lake.

The west side of the fire is heading into the East Fork of Dry Creek, while the southside of the fire came within a couple miles of the Bostetter Campground.

Twin Falls and Cassia County Sheriff's Departments are starting a voluntary evacuation in the area of Rock Creek Canyon and Dry Creek Road from Foothills Road south. They have closed Foothills Road and Rock Creek Road.

Fire crews continuing to help hold the southside of the fire at Oakley-Rodgerson Road. There is also a DC-10 airtanker making numerous drops on the northside, and fire crews are building a line on the west and north to stop of the fire.

Officials are also asking anyone to stay away from the areas south of Hansen and Kimberly.
