BOISE – A wildfire in Boise County has moved within a half-mile of homes in the Clear Creek subdivision and led to voluntary evacuations in the area.
The Avelene Fire has burned about four acres near the junction of Grimes Creek Road and State Highway 21.
The Clear Creek Rural Fire Department has called for a voluntary evacuation for homes in the Turner and Big Springs Road area.
Engines from Idaho Department of Lands, Boise National Forest, Clear Creek Rural Fire Department and Wilderness Ranch Fire Department have responded to the fire, which broke out Tuesday afternoon. Three helicopters and single engine air tankers are assisting in the firefighting effort.
Two other fires were reported in the area and are under investigation.
