If you want to cut back on salt in your diet, these are the foods to avoid when you go out to eat.
The authors of the popular “Eat This, Not That” series have listed the saltiest restaurant foods in eight different categories and published them on Yahoo! Health.
Saltiest pasta: Ruby Tuesday Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta
At 3,737 mg of sodium, it’s equal to 10 large orders of McDonald’s French Fries.
Saltiest Mexican entrée: On the Border Dos XX Fish Tacos
3,740 mg sodium makes it equal to 275 Tortilla Chips.
Saltiest starter: Applebee’s Chili Cheese Nachos
The 4,270 mg sodium can be matched by ordering 18.5 orders of Taco Bell’s Cheesy Nachos.
Saltiest breakfast: IHOP Thick-Cut Bone-In Ham & Eggs
4,310 mg sodium – the same as 32 strips of Oscar Mayer Center Cut Bacon.
Saltiest “healthy” entrée: Applebee's Weight Watchers Chipotle Lime Chicken
This is labeled as healthy, but at 4,990 mg sodium, that 32 strips of bacon may be looking a lot better.
Saltiest soup: P.F. Chang’s Hot and Sour Soup Bowl
5,000 mg sodium
Saltiest burger: Chili’s Jalapeno Smokehouse Bacon Burger with Ranch Dressing
6,600 mg sodium would be the equivalent of 6.5 McDonald’s Big Macs. Even the guy in the documentary “Super Size Me” who eats two Big Macs a day might walk away from this one.
Saltiest food in America: P.F. Chang’s Pork Double Pan Fried Noodles
7,900 mg sodium. Try not to have a heart attack when you read this one. That’s five full-size bags of Ruffles potato chips.
