Girl, 5, found tied up in Burger King parking lot

SAN ANTONIO -- Police are working to figure out why a 5-year-old girl was found tied up in an east-side Burger King parking lot early Friday morning.

The San Antonio Police Department said the girl had tape around her wrists.

Police said a Walgreens employee found the girl around 2:30 a.m in a nearby Burger King parking lot and took her back to Walgreens near Rigsby Avenue and South WW White Road to call authorities.

The girl was reportedly alone when she was found.

Police said the girl's mother is believed to have left her in the parking lot, and she was released into her father's custody.

SAPD's east-side patrol also told KENS 5 the girl's mother was seen at the Walgreens location trying to purchase something, but did not have enough money to pay.

She reportedly argued with Walgreens staff around 11:30 p.m. Thursday regarding that incident.

It's not clear where the mother is Friday morning, according to police.

This is a developing story, and Kens5.com will continue to post updates as they become available.
