Five Valuable Autographed Sports Memorabilia

Autographed memorabilia can be hard to come by, but when a fan can locate one of these prized possessions, they may find a hefty price tag associated with it. Here is a list of 5 of the most valuable autographed items in sports history.

5. Joe DiMaggio & Marilyn Monroe Baseball $191,200

He was a baseball god, and she was a Hollywood vixen. Together these two were the ultimate power couple during their time, and when they teamed up to sign a piece of baseball memorabilia, they made history with the most expensive autographed baseball at the time of its first sale in 2006.

4. Babe Ruth Baseball $388, 375

The Great Bambino had a tendency to switch up his signature. Sometimes signing “GH Ruth”, “George Herman Ruth”, or “Babe Ruth”. Regardless of how he chose to sign a baseball, bat, jersey, card, or photograph, the item’s worth would skyrocket, as is noted when this 1927 baseball went on up for auction.

3. Hank Aaron 755th homerun ball (autographed) $650,000

Hank Aaron was a man of his time. A 21 season All-Star, the baseball legend hit his 755th home run in July of 1976. His record was finally broken in 2007, when Barry Bonds hit an all-time career high with 762 home runs.

A remarkable player, Babe Ruth was known for his celebrity both on and off the field. No one will argue that his ability to play baseball outshines any off-field antics, and his talent was front and center during the 1933 All-Star Game when Babe Ruth hit two home runs. The ball, which found itself becoming the first home run of the game, recently fetched $805,000 at auction.

Appearing on our list for the third time and taking the first place spot is none other than George Herman “Babe” Ruth. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the bat, which The Babe used during his first game against his former team, the Boston Red Sox, is now the world’s most expensive bat. This piece of baseball history commanded a $1.265 million USD price tag the last time it was up for auction in 2004.
