SPOKANE, Wash. --- Comments poured in following KREM 2’s story of a 16-month old baby who survived a car crash, thanks to a quality car seat. Heather Hope died at the scene of the crash, but her daughter was survived.

KREM 2 On Your Side set out to answer some of the questions viewers had about the story.

Family said it was all thanks to a sturdy and safe car seat. Many wondered what type of car seat Heather bought, that ultimately helped save her daughter’s life.

Heather Hope’s family said they researched car seats for weeks before buying one. Family members said they bought the Graco Extend2Fit car seat.

A Google search of the car seat reveals the brand is available at most well-known stores. The price of the car seat starts around $180. Knowing just how critical your baby’s safety is, KREM 2 On Your Side investigated which other car seats are also top ranked.

According to Consumer Reports,GB Asana 35 DLX, Chicco KeyFit, Cybex Aton 2, all scored high in safety rankings.

While certain brands may be better than others, police said it is also critical where you situate a car seat.

According to a recent federal study, car seats have managed to save the lives of 71 percent of all infants who were in car crashes. That statistic could have very well been proven true this past weekend.
