PORTLAND, Ore. -- Going green - it's not just for people any more.  A first of its kind eco-friendly indoor dog park and pool in Southeast Portland is set to open this Saturday.

The facility has over 20,000 square feet of play space, a 1,400 gallon indoor pool, and it’s earth-friendly.

Fido's Indoor Dog Park offers dog owners and their pups an indoor play room covered in 100% recycled turf as well as a 98 percent chemical-free indoor pool.  Nearly everything from the paint on the walls to the non-toxic cleaning products to the biodegradable waste bags is eco-friendly.

Dog owners are already signing up for services.

"I think its going to be especially great for people in the winter time when it’s tough to get out and give your dog a spot to run and the weather’s ugly," said dog owner Dave Talbott.

Others like Summer Gorder are excited to use the facility for day care.

"I’m just excited about it because I go to 24 Hour Fitness just down the street and my dog can be going to her fitness gym," said Gorder.

The indoor park also offers doggy daycare, boarding and grooming services.

Web cams spread across the facility give dog owners a constant view of their pups. Day passes to the indoor park start at $10.  Monthly and annual memberships are also available.
