OLYMPIA, Wash. -  State officials say nine school districts are getting federal grants to help improve student performance.

The grants total about $17 million. Each of the school districts will work with Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn to decide which schools will be helped, and how much money they'll each get.

The nine districts getting School Improvement Grants are Seattle, Tacoma, Marysville, Yakima, Wellpinit, Sunnyside, Highline, Grandview and Longview.
