Man arrested for sexually assaulting woman in Gresham, police say

Police: Man attacks woman walking to work

GRESHAM, Ore. – Police arrested a man for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman while she walked to work in southeast Gresham.

Orion Storm Mears faces charges including first-degree rape, kidnapping and robbery.

Mears was arrested Tuesday morning in Southeast Portland. Police said several tips from the public helped them make the arrest.

The Nov. 30 assault occurred in the 2800 block of Southeast Powell Valley Road at around 4 a.m.

The victim told police she was walking to work when the man approached her. He spoke with her briefly before the attack, she said.

Police said Mears was homeless and lived in Southeast Gresham. At the time of his arrest, Mears was wanted for probation violation related to a burglary case and a weapons case.
