Multiple suspects rob pot shop in NE Portland

Armed suspects rob marijuana dispensary

PORTLAND, Ore.-- Police responded to the report of an armed robbery in progress about 8:50 p.m. Sunday at Green Buds Dispensary at 10929 NE Sandy Blvd.

Officers arrived and saw at least two people running from the dispensary towards the railroad tracks north of Sandy Blvd.

Police believe six suspects were involved, male and female, and that at least four suspects were armed with handguns.  No shots were fired during the robbery, and it is unknown if anything was taken from the business.  But no doubt it was terrifying for employees.

Marijuana dispensaries can be targets because of the mostly cash transactions involved in sales. But Green Buds' owner said he didn't feel they were especially at risk before the robbery.

"We have more security in there than a bank so it was kind of a one off,  the only thing that matters is that the employees are all fine," said dispensary owner Chris Schaaf.

One person was detained in the area as officers continued to search the area north of Sandy Boulevard but that was person was released.

A massive search involving the Special Emergency Response Team and an airplane turned up none of the suspects.  If you have any information about the robbery, call Portland police.
