Suspect in fatal Salem shooting arrested at Canadian border

Police investigating fatal shooting in Salem

SALEM, Ore. – The man wanted by Salem police in connection with a fatal shooting was arrested in Washington, near the Canadian border, on Tuesday.

Cristian J. Acosta, 22, was taken to the Whatcom County Jail. He is charged with aggravated murder and will be taken back to Salem.

The shooting occurred in the 2500 block of Hyde Court Southeast at around 1:45 p.m. Monday. Police said multiple shots were fired.

The victim, 20-year-old Lucia Pamatz, was found dead when police arrived, according to Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada.

Police say Acosta and Pamatz were in a relationship.
