Nampa man charged after hitting pedestrian on I-84

BOISE -- A Nampa driver who hit a man walking along I-84 Saturday is facing a felony charge in connection to the wreck.

Timothy Boerin, 26, was arrested for aggravated DUI and booked into the Ada County Jail after the collision.

According to Idaho State Police, Boerin was driving near the Orchard Street exit at 12:38 p.m. when his SUV left its lane and crashed into 23-year-old Christopher Bost of Oxford, North Carolina.

Sgt. Scott Tulleners said Bost told police he was traveling through the area and had been walking on the roadside as far away from traffic as he could get. He was taken to Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise by ambulance, and was listed in fair condition Monday morning.

A passenger in Boerin's SUV, 23-year-old Brianna Boerin, was also taken to the hospital. She was treated and released, police say.

Tulleners said investigators determined that Boerin was under the influence of an intoxicating substance other than alcohol when he hit the pedestrian. A blood test was performed to determine what the substance is.

Felony aggravated DUI is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
