Man charged with DUI after car goes into canal

One man is charged with driving under the influence after a crash in which a car ended up in a Meridian canal Friday evening.

Police say 20-year-old Alfonso Baeza-Torres was heading out of the gravel driveway of a home on the south side of McMillan Road near North Timberline Way in his Camaro at a high rate of speed, lost control, and went into the Lemp Canal on the north side of McMillan.

Nobody was injured, and nobody else was in Baeza-Torres' car.

Baeza-Torres was booked into the Ada County Jail, but has been released. He's charged with misdemeanor DUI, and is due in court on October 21.
