Neighborhood panic after 7 shots fired in Boise

BOISE -- A Boise man was arrested Wednesday evening after police say he shot multiple rounds into the air in a Boise neighborhood.

Officers were called out to the 1700 block of Barlow Lane at about 3:45 p.m. for reports of shots fired. Boise Police Sgt. Matt Bryngelson said police received multiple calls about the shooting.

"When officers arrived, it was kind of a frantic scene," he said. "As officers detained people to try and figure out what happened, there was evidence that a handgun had in fact been fired on the street."

Several shell casings were found on the ground. The suspect, 40-year-old Cleveland Littlejohn, was taken into custody in the street near his home.

A witness told police that Littlejohn had fired between five and seven rounds from a handgun into the air after a domestic dispute.

Bryngelson said no one was hurt in the shooting.

"We went door-to-door to make sure everybody was OK, checked for bullets or holes in walls to make sure that nobody had been struck by an errant round," he said.

Littlejohn was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, felon in possession of a handgun and negligent discharge of a firearm within city limits.
