Jerome man arrested in death of decapitated Nevada woman

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Detectives in northeast Nevada did not disclose that an apparent homicide victim had been decapitated when they asked for the public's help identifying the victim, whose body was found in a shallow grave in the high desert:

Elko County Sheriff's Lt. Kevin McKinney says an Idaho farm hand arrested this week on suspicion of open murder led deputies to the spot where he allegedly buried the head of 34-year-old Carmen Magallanes-Sanchez of Ryndon.

It was about a mile from where a hunter came across the decapitated body Sept. 4 about 30 miles north of Elko.

McKinney told The Associated Press authorities kept some of the details secret so they wouldn't compromise the investigation. He says formal charges are pending against Jose Segundo-Huizar of Jerome, Idaho.

He's being held in the Elko County Jail without bail.
