Idaho judge rejects reduced sentence in triple-killing case

MOSCOW, Idaho -- A northern Idaho man's request for a reduced sentence for three murders has been rejected.

The Lewiston Tribune reports that 31-year-old John Lee's sentence of life in prison without parole remains unchanged.

Second District Court Judge John R. Stegner on Wednesday denied the request because of stipulations in Lee's plea agreement.

The deal spared Lee from the death penalty but also waived his rights to seek a reduced sentence. But Lee sought a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Stegner wrote he wouldn't alter Lee's sentence even if he were allowed to do so.

Lee was sentenced in May to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing three people and injuring a fourth in July 2015.
