DUII citation after pedestrian killed in SE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man was arrested after he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian Sunday evening on Southeast Division Street and 124th Avenue.

Clifford E. Perry Jr., 40, was cited for DUII and accused of second-degree manslaughter and reckless driving.

Police said he was speeding west down Division street about 9:40  when he struck Damon P. Burton, 61, who lived nearby. 

Perry continued west until crashing into a concret block at a gas station at 122nd Avenue. A passenger in his car was not injured. Emergency crews declared Burtion dead at the scene.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Officer Phil Maynard at 503-823-2216. 

This was the 31st fatal traffic crash in 2016 in the City of Portland. Learn more about the City of Portland's Vision Zero effort to reduce fatalities.
