Armed robber pistol-whips employee at Portland market

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man hit an employee with a gun during an armed robbery on Sunday afternoon.

The robbery took place at the Milwaukie Market, at 4401 Southeast Milwaukie Avenue, at about 2:40 p.m. The employee told police two men came into the store and ordered him to the ground. One of the suspects had a gun and hit the employee in the face.

The armed robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store.

The employee's 5-year-old daughter was also in the store at the time of the robbery, but she hid and was not injured. The employee was taken by ambulance to a Portland hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers searched the neighborhood but didn't locate either of the suspects.

The suspects are described as black men in the late teens, both about 5-foot-7 with medium builds. They were wearing black hats and shirts. The suspect who had the gun wore silver pants; the other wore blue pants.
